The Green Pill
5-7-2009:
You've heard of the red and blue pills right? Well now, Dan Phillips
says there is the green pill -the cure all for cancer (guaranteed to make you super green!). Check it
out as
he blogs about it over at PyroManiacs

2-4-2008:
We are now on Wikipedia! To save you the boring
details I have pulled out all the pointless information from the article and ended up with two very
interesting facts:
1. The former Polish Pope
is the one who is responsible for making this English utterance popular.
2.
We now know the time period and location of the first inculturation attempt.
Puzzled
5-7-2007:
A long time ago, on another server... there once existed a tile puzzle that
had been found while surfing the web. In keeping with copyright laws the script for that puzzle was not
included in the content of this site. As a result you, the surfer and regular visitor of Inculturated.com,
have had to do without... until now!
We are happy to present you with a puzzle of our own. Just click shuffle
to begin. Any adjacent tiles will move to the blank space. Move the tiles around to reconstruct the image.
Contrary to the original thought, it only took about a day and a half to write the code and do testing. Hopefully,
though, it won't even take you that long to solve it.
Our record so far is 207 moves.

"Inculturated"?!
AndyHB says:
"There is no such word as 'inculturate' in the English language."
"Ah, AndyHB! Inculturated is when you're more than cultured! This guy
El Guapo is not just culturated, he's
In-culturated!"
What? Giving cannibalism a human face?
Beth A. Conklin, an associate professor of anthropology at Vanderbilt
University is quoted as saying:
"We assume that cannibalism is always an aggressive, barbaric and degrading act, But
that is a serious over-simplification, one that has kept us from realizing that cannibalism
can have positive meanings and motives that are not that far from our own experience."
I seriously lack any words to express myself here -
"positive meanings and motives!?"

Cultural Blunders -excerpts from "Results of Poor Cross Cultural Awareness" - kwintessential.co.uk
Pepsodent tried to sell its toothpaste in Southeast Asia by emphasizing that it "whitens
your teeth." They found out that the local natives chew betel nuts to blacken their teeth which
they find attractive.
In a Belgrade hotel elevator: To move the cabin, push the button for wishing floor. If the
cabin should enter more persons, each one should press a number of wishing floor. Driving is then
going alphabetically by national order.

Enculturation
Conrad Phillip Kottak (in Window on Humanity) wrote:
"Enculturation is the process where the culture that is currently established teaches an
individual the accepted norms and values of the culture or society in which the individual
lives. The individual can become an accepted member and fulfill the needed functions and roles
of the group. Most importantly the individual knows and establishes a context of boundaries and
accepted behavior that dictates what is acceptable and not acceptable within the framework of
that society. It teaches the individual their role within society as well as what is accepted
behavior within that society and lifestyle"
Inconceivable!
